Tetris Wouldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

As any significant prize-giving event nears, one notices an outcry to include of new categories to acknowledge overlooked contributions and delight the passions of fans with niche passions.

Another commentator has already made supporting a scary games classification. It would be amazing. Equally deserving are strategy board titles, representing someone's personal cause. However, I must insist for pushing forward just as with other blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and important of all. The demand is this: There should be an award type for logic-based games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Categorizing art by genre defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and inevitably start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. This explains why film award organizations avoid this approach. Yet it remains an unavoidable compromise within the realm of video games, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Existing Game Classification System

Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these genre categories for Action, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these classifications successfully include a lot of ground, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Consider three of recent excellent titles, showing diverse approaches: the architectural riddles from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. What category would fit them among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles published annually lacking appropriate categories at major award shows, unless they happen to qualify for categories like Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated for anything during that awards season
  • Another creative title missed out during that ceremony
  • Popular arranging title was overlooked in 2021
  • Just some logic titles managed to sneak into niche award types

Value of Brain-Teasers

These are often modest productions, yet the craft of the puzzle game is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as most engaged experiences globally continuing this trend for an extended period.

The legendary block-stacking game competes with popular creative games competing to become best-selling game of all time; it also contends for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational for gaming as medium, while interacting with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. One could readily select five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, given the need to exclude numerous deserving experiences.

To emphasize again, these represent titles without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Puzzle game makers function at the demanding boundary interactive creation, creating some of most fundamental forms within interactive entertainment. Just like film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay 35 years.
